I bought this unit as many people did during a sale. It is a great unit but the attachments are very confusing because even though it sells as a 4.5quart mixer it uses the parts of the 5quart mixer. The best source I found for finding parts is the kitchenaid shopping site. It will tell you all parts that are compatible with any model. I purchased this mixer at a black-friday sale and have had it for about one week. I have used it for cookie dough, bread dough and frosting so far. I like it a lot!

The first day I had it, I had to adjust the bowl height because the beater was hitting the bowl. Unfortunately, in my exuberance, I over adjusted and the tiny screw fell into the machine. Thankfully it came out at the bottom when I shook the machine. I contacted customer service for help and they were willing to send me an entirely new machine at no extra cost! While I was "chatting" online w/ the customer rep, my spouse was able to quickly unscrew the machine and re-insert the screw so we told them never mind, but thank you! That was excellent customer service, in my opinion.

I ordered attachments for this and they fit, so hopefully this will help anyone looking for the correct size :

I have owned this mixer for 3 years and have never had a problem. It is big enough to make most things. The motor is also strong enough if you don't abuse it. I have found several attachments for it, but they are difficult to come by(yes, most of the attachments change color, but this is normal).
